These mics represent a solution to the years of frustation suffered by harmonica players with bulky hard to handle mics, with protruding mic stand fixtures, non-standard connectors and odd cables. The lack of a means to control volume at the mic has always been a problem too...having to run back and forth during performance to adjust sound levels and risk feedback. These mics are easy to hold, and can be made to duplicate any vintage sound you are looking for. I use hi-impedence elements because most players choose to use vintage tube amps, my preference is the Silvertone 1400 series from the 60s with vintage Jensen speakers. The use of ceramic or dynamic elements is my choice because of the fragile nature of the crystal elements, they can be easily broken if the mic is dropped and also damaged by high humidity and moisture...the crystals used are water soluble.
